Lowcountry Advanced Practice Nurses is a professional association of a diverse group of nurse practitioners in Charleston, South Carolina. It is designed to promote ongoing education and provide resources for nurse practitioners in the area.

April 2012 President's Corner

Hello all,

Spring is well underway and with it renewal. This brings me to tell you that I have decided to step down as President of LCAPN this summer. It has been a great experience serving the nurse practitioner community and I will continue to attend the meetings to see my friends and colleagues. If anyone is interested in serving on the LCAPN board, please contact me. We will need to fill two positions as Pam Mazza, our CEU coordinator, is resigning as well.

We have one more meeting on May 8th with the topic being contraception. The invitation will be posted shortly and you will receive a reminder email. This fall we will be offering our first four CEU pharmacology programs. Thank you so much, Pam, for putting this program together. Members' cost will be $10.00 and non-members $60.00. More details will follow later this summer and I hope you will plan to attend.

Our salary survey results will be announced at the May meeting and thanks to all who participated. Dues will stay at $35.00 for next year and renewal will start in July and finish September 1st. Please take a look at the new Political Corner on our website with the information that was given to us at the last meeting by two MUSC DNP students: Rory Brody and Jessica Chepa. Thanks, Rory and Jessica!

January 2012 President's Corner

Hello and Happy New Year

It’s hard to believe the New Year is here. I wish you all the best for the coming year and hope to see you at all the LCAPN meetings. Tuesday January 17th will be our next meeting at Rue de Jean. Usually we have every meeting on the second Tuesday of the month so this meeting on the third Tuesday of the month is the exception . The topic is overactive bladder and if you are interested in attending RSVP ASAP to asdonato@aol.com.

Renewal of memberships went well this fall with paypal being implemented. Our membership is growing in numbers and we are approximately 80 strong at this time.

As in other years we want to gather information on salaries and other topics for you. Please fill out the 2011/2012 Salary Survey form before March 1st.

The board is continuing to work on obtaining CEU’s for its members and we hope to offer you a half-day program for CEU’s this fall with pharmacology update. Stay tuned.
